Subject: William Appleby Brown - 608 Squadron RAF Auxilary

William Appleby Brown born 13 Jan 1910 in Middlesbrough to James Brown and Elizabeth Alice Appleby.
William went to Russia in the 1930's and later in 1938 joined the Royal Air Force serving in Greece as a Fighter Pilot. In 1946 he became Station Commander 608 Squadron Auxilary at Thornaby-on-Tees, North Yorkshire.

His brother was was John Appleby Brown, Alderman of Middlesbrough and Chairman of the Teesside Health Authority in 1969.

The Brown Family owned a Shipping Company in Middlesbrough before and during WW2 called Lion Shipping Company.
