If this is the same chap as I'm thinking, he arrived in Sydney aged 21 with his wife Avis Ann also 21 in 1853 on the Ellenborough. Their daughter Avis Ann was born in Sydney,they then moved to Victoria where Avis (the wife) died in 1856. Does the date of Alfred's second marriage to Sarah Matthews - 1860, match?
