The parents of Arthur James Appleby c.1884 are Herbert c.1857 Locksmith & Elisabeth Smith c.1858 mar.1877 living at 11 Paul St. Heath Town in the 1891 census. Herbert's parents were Micah c.1834 Locksmith & Margaret Clift c.1836 mar.1855. Micah's parents were Joseph c.1810 Locksmith & Susannah Salt c.1811. Joseph's parents are possibly John c.1784 & Elisabeth Meredith c.1787 or John c.1788 & Elisabeth Meredith. No one can prove which one up to now. Hope this helps.
