Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing just fine. I really haven't had time to write a complete and comprehensive Miss Universe review up to this point. And what better day than today, before first delegates come to L.A. to compete for that coveted crown of Miss Universe 2006. I've finally had an opportunity to look at all delegates competing with the exception of Misses U.K., Argentina and Chile and I think I am in position to finally write a full review of this year's competition. This MU will be as hot as ever! Although I do not think the quality of delegates matches my fav MU pageant in the 2000s the one from Quito, Ecuador. I do think it is actually ahead of the last year's group and WAY ahead of that average 2003 pageant. Looking at the delegates, I think we are in for the 2nd best MU in the 00s! who knows maybe the best ever in this decade�!

87 delegate will participate in this extravaganza. Correct me if I'm wrong but it is the highest number ever. The only new country is Kazakhstan while many, many countries are returning, especially the Caribbean countries. No one expected St. Maarten or St. Vincent and the Grenadines in, so I would like to extend a warm welcome to them just as to other 85 ladies that will compete for the most coveted crown of the international pageantry, but let's get down to business!. Unfortunately, I won't have the opportunity to attend MU by myself, given my work schedule, but I will certainly write a final review before the pageant to underline who's the girl to beat and who has measured up to the overall expectations! As of right now:

1st - CANADA - Alice Panikian

There is no doubt that this lady is the number one favorite of MU 2006. Pageant pundits, "missologists" and experts from all around the World are raving about this spectacular, tall brunette. If she wins, she will be the first back-to-back winner in the MU history. Alice is truly a spectacular beauty and on looks alone, it would be extremely difficult to beat her. As I underlined before, I think the timing for her could not have been worst. I believe if this stunning 20 years old would have been a candidate in 2008 or 2009, she would have no problem winning the competition. Now, the question is whether Trump is wiling to crown, yet another Canadian, yet another Torontonian, yet another lady of Eastern European descent and yet another brunette once again. I hope he's ready to do just that because in my opinion this lady is head-and-shoulders above her competition!

2nd - INDONESIA - Nadine Chandrawinata

Nadine is the most stunning Asian delegate in a longtime. In fact, in my eyes she is the best Asian delegate of the 00s, even ahead of Lara Dutta. She has never been below number 2 on my list and this is the lady that in fact, in my opinion, will become our new Miss Universe. She is nothing short of stunning with amazing facial features, great body and the right attitude. What helps her is the fact that she represents a country where Donald Trumps wants to invest and where he could easily make billions of dollars. Now, going beyond these financial and dare I say political considerations, Nadine is just stunning on her own and deserves to do extremely well in this pageant.

3rd - UKRAINE - Inna Tsymbalyuk

Two years ago, another Ukrainian was a number one favorite in the Miss Universe pageant that proved to be the most competitive in the 00s. Now, yet another stunning Ukrainian is competing and while Oleksandra never made it to the finals, at least the system of selecting the semi-finalists was changed, partly thanks to her amazing beauty. In my opinion, Inna is even more beautiful than Oleksandra and I am not talking only about her facial beauty but also about her swimsuit physique. This woman could be our next Miss Universe, at the very least, she'll be the best MU delegate from Europe this year.

4th - PUERTO RICO - Zuleyka Rivera.
Zuleyka must be one of the most underrated delegates of the year. I think it is the first year in a long, longtime that Puerto Rico is actually considered an underdog. The beauty of this lady is nothing short of mesmerizing and her preparation has been spectacular. I've never had her below my number 6. She's a great combination of what Puerto Rico is all about! A bit Taino, a bit Spanish and a bit Black makes her a truly unique delegate. Frankly, I do not care whether she was surgically enhanced, she has that vibe about her that I simply adore and frankly I can't stop looking at her pics.

5th - GHANA - Angela Asare
I was very unhappy when another African stunner Stiavandra Oliveira was withdrawn from this competition, but to my surprise another African stunner quickly emerged. Angela Asare can be compared to nobody else but a stunning Sallie Touissant, former Miss Connecticut USA and a top 10 Miss World finalist. Angela's skin is nothing short of amazing and the fact that she's very tall will only help her in this pageant. Amazing contestant.

6th - AUSTRALIA - Erin McNaught
What would the Miss Universe pageant be without a little controversy. This year, Erin is behind it, but let's not focus on that specific controversy, let's focus on Erin's amazing girl-next-door qualities, her swimsuit presentation and her amazing face. I am impressed that Australia has sent a 5th in a row delegate that is absolutely flawless. That is an amazing record since the return of this country to the MU family. Erin is poised to do very well in Los Angeles.

7th - SPAIN - Elizabeth Reyes

Five year passed by since the stunning Spanish beauty Eva Siso Casals made the top 6 at Miss Universe 2006. Eva Siso Casals is one of my favorite beauty queens from Europe and this lady follows in her steps. Spain has generally been weaker in the last 5 years, except for the stunning Maria Jesus Ruis, but in my opinion this lady is poised to return Spain to the semi-finals. Elizabeth is very model-like, beautiful face, stunning physique, this is what a modern delegate should be all about.

8th - VENEZUELA - Jictzad Vina

Once again, Miss Venezuela seems to be the most controversial contestant of the competition. She is either loved or hated. In my opinion, she is totally underrated. She has all the characteristics of a future Miss Universe. What differentiates her from previous Misses Venezuela is that she looks like a real Amazonian, very tall and a mixture of Native American and Spanish looks. This stunning Morena is a true sensation and I would not be surprised if she ends up with the crown, despite what her "anti-fans" are saying. She is out there to spice things up!

9th - USA - Tara Conner
I am very glad the United States has an amazing delegate this year as well. She's truly one of the most beautiful faces and physiques of this year's bunch. She's light years ahead of the U.S. delegate last year, a delegate that also made the top 10. At this point in time, it is really difficult to say whether Tara could go all the way, on a personal level I think she could and I will be watching her closely in the upcoming competition.

10th - NICARAGUA - Cristiana Frixone

Latinas tend to do very well at Miss Universe and one of this year's Latina stunners is this amazing brunette. She has all it takes to surprise us by placing as a semi-finalist and even way beyond it. Not only her swimsuit physique is amazing, so is the face! I think that she is generally underestimated by fans and it is unfortunate since she is a real stunner.

11th - POLAND - Francys Sudnicka

This is no doubt that as of right now Poland has one of the very best national pageants in Europe, both in terms of the quality of delegates and the organization. Unfortunately, Miss Poland .org tends to send runner-ups to MU and this year is no exception, however this year the 3rd runner-up is none other than a former Miss Venezuela contestant Francys Sudnicka. This experienced brunette truly seems 100% ready to rumble and I think her pageant experience may even enable her to go all the way.

12th - TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - Kenisha Thom

Trinidad and Tobago made the semis in the last 3 Miss Universe contests and since its win with Wendy Fitzwilliam in 1998 I have never seen anything else but TRUE stunners. I think there was only one exception to that. I have never seen someone as determined and as prepared as Kenisha Thom. Her top 10 finish at Miss World proves that she is a force to reckon with. She is truly one of these delegates that shines on stage and that we cannot take our eyes off of. I think she will be up there among the semi-finalists with her stunning, exotic beauty and one of the hottest bodies and personalities around.

13th - PANAMA - Alessandra Mezquita

This is the very first time that I have this delegate in my top 15. Her recent pics totally won me over. At first, I thought she had no chance, but the subsequent pics including the recent ones have proven that she is likely to do very well in the upcoming pageant. Not only is she one of the very best prepared delegates, she's also very fashionable and has one of the best national organizations behind her. I really that Alessandra is this year's Shandi, ie: a delegate that is truly at the very best of what she could be and all of that came through hard work.

14th - INDIA - Neha Kapur

There is no doubt in my mind that Neha is the best Miss India since Lara Dutta. She is probably Miss India with the best swimsuit physique ever! I was totally surprised at how good she is in swimsuit. I have to admit that in recent years I have been nothing short of disappointed by Indian performances, but Neha truly seems like a stunning lady, with a good looking face as well as amazing swimsuit. Take a look at her and see why is she So much better than previous Indian queens!

15th - SLOVENIA - Natasa Pinoza

I had really hard-time choosing the last semi-finalist in my pre-pageant review. There are so many ladies that deserve this last spot, but Natasa just stands out as the most versatile among them. This stunning, tall brunette is the best Miss Slovenia since Iris Mulej in 2002 when that delegate was considered a shoo-in to make it to the semis. This half-Spanish lady reminds me of another Spaniard, Helen Lindes, 2nd runner-up to MU 2000. In one word Natasa is spectacular.

ON THE BUBBLE:
Here is my on the bubble list, for delegates that I rank between 16th and 32nd place, delegates that can easily surprise and become finalists; Here we go: 16th SRI LANKA, 17th JAPAN, 18th MEXICO, 19th SWITZERLAND, 20th NEW ZEALAND, 21st BELGIUM, 22nd ALBANIA, 23rd ECUADOR, 24th NAMIBIA, 25th ICELAND, 26th BOLIVIA, 27th SWEDEN, 28th IRELAND, 29th GUYANA, 30th ISRAEL, 31st DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, 32nd CROATIA

OVERHYPED:
As every year, there are a couple of delegates that are truly overhyped for one reason or the other. This year they include Miss PHILIPPINES, Miss COLOMBIA, Miss FRANCE and Miss PARAGUAY. While, the fact that Philippines is overhyped does not surprise me one bit. The only thing that I have to say is that this is just getting old and undermines any future delegate from this country, a delegate that would actually be competitive. I am a bit perplexed about Colombia, France and Paraguay since these delegates clearly do not seem to have what it takes to make the top 15. Another lady that has been hyped and does not really stand a chance is BRAZIL.

That competes Jessika's pre-Miss Universe final review "At The Homestretch 2006". Of course, you are more than welcome to provide me your feedback! The MU season is about to get going with the arrival of the delegates. I wish every delegate good luck and may the best CONTESTANT WIN in the hottest competition of the summer!!!

4-inches of make-up??? Hahaha...
I ever sent message that i've already seen her without make-up. Her skin is really totally clean and white cause she is German-indonesian girl. So, even without thin make-up, her skin is whiter than its looked.

What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?
My interests include reading, watching movies, going to the beach, spending time with my family and friends, charity work, and God. One of my biggest passions is sports, whether it be playing or just watching.

Name one person other than your parents who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
My oldest brother Mario. Growing up with him being 7 years my senior, I always wanted to do what he was doing, which is how I got started in soccer. I strived to be as smart as him and as well-read about the world as him. He was always the person I looked upon to set standards for myself.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My career ambition is to become a respected sports reporter and have my own production company and produce documentaries. Thankfully becoming Miss Panama has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people in the field of communications and has opened some doors for me. I plan on using this as a stepping stone and will continue to work hard and persevere to gain the respect of my peers and audience in order to accomplish my goals.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
My childhood took place in Miami, Florida, where I was raised for 11 years. It was an amazing upbringing. There was never a dull moment in my household of my parents and two olders brothers and me. I grew up in a suburb called Kendall where people from all over Latin America lived. My time was divided between school, the soccer field and church. Someone always had an activity, a practice or a game, so we never ran out of things to do!

What makes you unique and different from the other contestants?
My appearance, which is a combination of cultures (something that characterizes Panamanians), and my personality because I am shy, yet quirky and spontaneous.

Miss Indonesia, she more like a fake chinese, hiddin inside 4 inches of makeup, without it, she looks ordinary.

The Latinas its like watching a pretty gorrilas everthing about thm are big...fake... from boobs to lips

Miss Sri Lanka, has the bollduzer nose, pretty but a nose like that, you can't miss her.
Miss Indonesia, somewhat pretty too made up she does not like asian at all, her face can be found in the San Francisco Gay areas, very Ordinary

If I am to vote, to find a worthy candidates, Miss Philippines, and Miss Japan. This two are more natural beauty than the rest of the candidates.

I am not too while for Amazon Ladies, Brazel, Columbia Puerto Rico, thay remind us of the Horse.. everything about them are large/big/oversized

Sri Lanka, got the largest nose ever created and so is Miss Colombia, Brazil, Paraguay.. too much noses? what up?

Miss Philippines looks very natural and matured compare to this Amazon candidates where plastic surgery are rampaged.

Miss Japan is also pretty and matured and natural

Miss Indonesia, kind of pretty but too made up she is not really Indonesian but German...

Miss India, too aggresive and an natural.. crow nose but okay

Virtudes= tiene la ventaja de tener un excelente grupo de apoyo, es decir, excelentes maquilladoras, seguramente uno de los mejores guardarropas para mostrar en LA, excelente pasarela, cuerpazo que tiene la muñeca colombiana, un rostro muy proporcional a su cuerpo, bonito color de piel, y una sonrisa encantadora.
Defectos= no me gustan sus pantorrillas, se ven desproporcionadas comparando con sus muslos, su boca es muy grande, tiene la desventaja que su color de piel no ha sido de los mas gustados últimamente, ya ven que en los ultimos años han preferido a las rubias como ganadoras, posiblemente con su 1.72 pudiera ser una desventaja con respecto a la tendencia que se ha manejado en los ultimos años, posiblemente este en un top 5.

Defectos= su experiencia de modelo podria ser la causa que nunca sonria, y eso si es un obstáculo, generalmente las chicas que no sonrien se quedan en media tabla, esperemos que no sea su caso, a veces se ve muy hermosa en fotos, y a veces se ve demasiado simple, quien sabe si se deba al fotografo, o que sean fotos antiguas, su nariz no esta muy afinada. A veces se ve muy cachetona, no resalta su busto.
Virtudes= es una de las chicas con mejor porte, preciosos ojos que tiene esta maja, una boca muy sensual, casi siempre echan a perder a las representantes españolas con su ajuar, esperemos que este año sea todo lo contrario, esta chica puede llegar muy lejos.

The Trillium Hi!! Miss Sri Lanka finals was held at the Galle Face Hotel. Jacqueline Fernandez won the crown while Chathurika Fernando and Irosha Kurera emerged first and second runners up respectively.

"I'm tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. That's deep enough. What do you want, an adorable pancreas?" the American author and playwright Jean Kerr once asked comically.

But the newly crowned Ms. Sri Lanka for Ms. Universe 2006, Jacqueline Fernandez begs to defy this notion. For her what makes a "beauty queen" is neither a silky skin nor a swaggering smile.

"The noblest kind of beauty is the one that slowly filters into the mind. Its not about physical beauty anymore. It is how you radiate your beauty from within and how effective it is to someone," she adds enthusiastically.

"To be a beauty queen title holder you've got to feel like a queen inside you. You have to feel for your country. That is the main idea of going for an international pageant because you are acting as an ambassador for your country then. You have to do it with confidence grace and charm, and not forgetting the intellect," she goes on to explain.

In an exclusive interview with Mirror Life, Jacqueline reveals how she will use her title as Ms. Sri Lanka 2006 to champion the causes dearest to her heart.

Q) What motivated you to take part in Ms. Sri Lanka 2006?

A) One of the main reasons why I considered joining the Ms. Sri Lanka contest was to further my humanitarian goals in life. I am very keen on working on women's issues and children's issues and the title gives me a lot of new opportunities to create awareness, raise funds and do a lot in these areas.

Q) You will reign as the most sort-after woman in the island for the next year. How will you use this title to serve the causes close to your heart?

A) The title would be a gateway to really raise the level of the Ms. Sri Lanka pageant as a whole, and it will give opportunities to be more involved in charity work. I am keen on women's issues, and this being a competition that revolves around women and celebrating women, I hope to use my skills as a motivational speaker and talk to women and empower them. A major issue facing women is gender based violence, mainly because women are not aware of their rights. So I want to use my tenure to help eradicate gender violence.

Q) Some feminists and other groups accuse that beauty pageants are degrading to the perception of women. What do you feel about this?

According to my experience beauty pageants are very competitive and require a lot of hard work and mental strength to win. Sometimes you might see women who give silly answers but that is because they are not confidant enough and not prepared. That's why they flounder. But if you look at the winners they are very intelligent young women. They know a lot about issues etc. In true beauty pageants we celebrate womanhood. It empowers women.

Q) What are your personal ambitions?

I want to pursue a degree in Political Science and I'd like to join the BBC or CNN and get involved with international political broadcasting

Q) Tell me a little about your self.

Well I grew up in Bahrain and I enjoy horse riding. I love cooking as well and my grandma taught me everything I need to know in the kitchen. I am also an animal lover and a member of the Animal Welfare Protection Agency (AWPA). I also volunteer at the Sevana Children's orphanage. I work as an English teacher there and I want to organize an art exhibition for them. Although they are physically disabled kids they are talented as artists

Q) What do you do currently?

Well I have a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Sydney and I present the Lanka Business Report.

Q) How would you like to be remembered?

Well, I'd like to be remembered as someone who really tried her best for her country and what she truly believed in and never gave up on her passions. Also, as someone who can make people realize that dreams do come true. I believe that you shouldn't look at things in the way they are and ask why but rather you should dream of things that never were there and ask why not?

Well, nice to see all of your choices in this nice forum. I just want to remind you that the girl who will be chosen for MU 2006 is who has great not only physical performance, but also being healthy. Healthy in 'Body, mind, spiritual' and good personality when she 'down to earth' among all kinds type of person she met.
Based on those, of course if we just only hold thight on pictures, i'm afraid it would be never ended. Otherwise, everyone seems had one's own country. It's better to write optional finalists and aech reason if able, so we can open our mind significantly. I'm sure Mr. Trump knows our forum.
