Not sure how it works but people from classmates send out , or classmates sends out, images to members via Facebook and I get then through my e-mail ( reminds me I should re-up with them if only because there are people there from all my schools ) so it should be possible to use FB for the sharing of images through e-mail. My sister and relatives who use it are often sending images to me via e-mail even though I have no FB account. However the present explorer programs and most hosting pages support all the social media links.
No cell phone here so never bothered to get into them.
