So sorry, I so rarely get on the comp, I'm horrible about checking this board. >slaps self< Amsterdam... ah... Logan, I'll give you the "off the record" version over dinner sometime at that Italian restaurant where we always meet. On the record, it was fabulous. We had this kick ass apartment in a canal house on the Keizersgracht Canal. Beautiful apartment, great location. If you go to Europe, check out the rentals from City Mundo vs. staying in a hotel. Best travel lodgings I've ever had. But the only time we spent in the lovely abode was to sleep and take a quick afternoon break. So much to see and do! The Rijksmuseum was great. Their centerpiece, so to speak, is Rembrandt's "Night Watch". And it is awesome. Takes up almost an entire wall. Gorgeous. The Van Gogh Museum made so much more of an impression on me than I thought it would. Was never that big a Van Gogh fan. Until I saw the real thing! They had a special exhibit of Gauguin's work alongside VG's, with themes going on in their relationship, their lives, along with tidbits of correspondence. It enhanced the paintings, which didn't needed it to begin with! The Anne Frank House-- oh my. Take tissue. You are there, right there, where she taped up little pictures of Hollywood icons, royalty. You stand right there looking at them, just like she did. If I were a gazillionaire, I'd pay for every young student to go to the Anne Frank House. I can't word it right. You have to experience it. I look forward to taking my daughters at some point. Ah, what else. The Jordaan district is quaint and lovely. The whole city is quaint and lovely! And manageable. We got a great Euro exchange on the dollar, city trams are cheap and simple to use. If you can memorize the canal order (Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht) you can find your way to just about anywhere. Don't go for the food. Unless you're wild about pancakes, or french fries with mayonnaise. Go for the liberal, oh-so-relaxed spirit and the beauty of its architecture and art, and its rich history. Could go on and on. Both Heather and I fell madly in love with Amsterdam. We went to London for a few days, also, as Heather had never been, and we were so close. She had one primary aim: soak in the Egyptian collection of the British Museum. We also went to the Tower of London and did some clubbing, hehe. As we did in Amsterdam. Whooh! Could go on all day. The weather was better than back home (Oklahoma had snow), the flower markets were indeed in blooming business, and it was probably the best trip I've ever taken. Security and customs were hell, but we knew they would be. If you've never considered Amsterdam, think again. :-)

Anyone else been on vacation? I know Blonde is going to England in May, go blondie go!
