Сказал устало контрабас,
Когда над ним завис смычок,
Но альт пропел:"Еще... Еще...",
А скрипка всхлипнула в плечо.
Литавры брякнули. И вот
Вступил рассерженный фагот.
Возликовала тут труба,
Любя войну и мир любя.
А колокольный перезвон
Был сам собою опьянен.
Все отыгравший контрабас -
Когда-то он мастро спас
И от тюрьмы,
И от сумы -
В последнем звуке вдруг угас
В надрывный миг,
В печальный час.
И тишиною застонал
Космических высот обвал.
