yo dudes... thanks for making our first, and last trip out west a great one... seattle was one of the best tour shows, and we made lots of friends... big ups to CRAZY JOE for hitting up 2 shows in one day with us, and our bros in champion for giving us a place to sleep... again, thanks guys, much love. brian

We got home a couple weeks ago from our first, and last US tour, and it definitely went really well. With the exception of our van breaking down the first day and needing to buy a new one before we had even played one show, everything went really smooth. We really lucked out with the van though… Ours had broken down in Du Bois, PA at about 5 am. We ended up having to choose whether we wanted to buy a used engine with 100,000 miles for 2 grand, and would take a week to fix (which would have meant we got it fixed then drove straight to Cali, or drove home), or rent a U Haul and pay to have our van towed home, which would have cost about $1,500 total. We realized one way or the other we were pretty fucked. At some point in the afternoon, a woman came over to us saying how she worked at the car dealership next door to the mechanic we ended up at, and a family had just traded in their 94 Chevy van… she said we could trade in our van, plus 2 grand, and we could drive away the next day. We decided that was the way to go, because we’d only have to miss one show and we’d just take a risk and hope the van would make it. So about 4,000 miles later, here we are. Thank you to everyone who did a show for us, gave us a place to sleep, and all the local bands that were cool enough to donate their share of gas money to us, knowing we were traveling from far away and our situation. We’d like to send a special thank you to Timmy Churchman for learning all our songs and playing drums for us for 3 We announced the other night at the death by stereo show that we have decided to end the band weeks, as well as Max and Tyler for coming with us and all their help. We met so many great people and saw some really awesome places on this 3 week trip… onto the not so good news... we have decided to end the band... it pretty much boils down to this… We have been a band now in one form or another for about 5 years. For the last few months before we went on tour we were totally stressed and worrying about stupid shit. Debt was piling up with our van problems, practices were tense making band members argue about stupid shit from time to time. It got worse as things got closer to tour… things were just getting hectic, and we lost focus of the whole reason we wanted to do the band in the first place. It was getting to the point where it almost wasn’t fun anymore, and instead of showing up to practice and shows eager to play and jam with friends, it was like going to the dentist and dreading about seeing that person who you weren’t currently seeing eye to eye with about some stupid band related thing. It was just getting dumb, and we just weren’t enjoying it. When finally it came time to go on tour, things had worked themselves out and we went and had the best 3 weeks ever across the country. I think we came back being better friends than maybe we ever were. It was a great feeling to smile when you saw that band mate who only weeks before you were bummed about seeing. We got home, and decided that after such a great trip, it wasn’t going to be worth it to get back in the swing of things, knowing that we’d pick up right where the arguments left off, and in the end, we could risk loosing friendships over band related things, and we just didn’t want that to happen. It has been an amazing 5 years, and we really want to thank anyone and everyone who ever went out of their way for us, and we hope maybe you can understand what I’m trying to say here. We want to be as honest with this as possible, and we think we’re doing things for the right reasons, no hasty decisions. Too many times bands say, hey this is great, our band is getting lots of exposure, people are really into it, so even though we may end up killing each other, lets just do this until we self destruct… we really didn’t want to go out like that. We will be playing a last show in NJ (details below), and maybe even a couple other shows… keep an eye on our shows page (www.thesurvivors.net) as we will keep it up to date. Thanks again for some truly amazing times. All the friends we have made, and the memories will never be forgotten. -survivors
