I have nothing against any of the bands you jus named of, I actually really like Slayer and Iron Maiden............but they are not hardcore........they NEVER were..... they are METAL. hardcore is a type of music all of its own. It grew out of the 80's punk scene.....ya know "Hardcore Punk"....over time it simply became hardcore. the sound has also changed since the early hardcore bands of the 80's. Now bands soud less punk and have alot more metal influences. HARDCORE is a TYPE of music....NOT a way to DESCRIBE the way a band SOUNDS.
