It grew out of the 80's punk scene.....ya know "Hardcore Punk"....over time it simply became hardcore. the sound has also changed since the early hardcore bands of the 80's. Now bands soud less punk and have alot more metal influences. HARDCORE is a TYPE of music....NOT a way to DESCRIBE the way a band SOUNDS.
