I have encountered the "Realms Down" message many times and most times I just re-log on to B-net and I am ok. Generally I get that message when the Realms are acting up and maybe this is why you couldn't find your mules? As far as your mules go, this is indeed strange because I have many times created mules, loaded em up with stuff and closed them down without even the required two hour limit and they are still there and muling just fine. Course these mules are on accounts that have been long time established as well and I think this is the case for you as well? I remember once losing mules, was a bit back and never thought I would see them again. When Blizzard revived all characters a while back (something to do with HC characters that had disappeared) all those original mules where revived including a character on the Europe Realm, which I never ever created, go figure! Anyways maybe what you can do, is firstly look again at your account and see if they have been returned and if not, maybe email Blizzard and see what they say, who knows huh?
