I never thought Chongqing could be that cold in the winter.

I never thought it would be raining the minute I arrived.

Waiting anxiously in the arrival lounge for almost 15 minutes and Iris was nowhere to be found, I started worrying if she had changed her mind and decided not to see me again. Scanning the whole area for one more time, I decided to wait for her outside the airport.

It was freezing out there.

Shivering under the pouring rain, I tried to light up a cigarette but couldn't find the lighter. Shit, I must have left it at the security-check counter before boarding the plane, I thought. When I was about to go back inside to buy a new one, there's someone behind me tapping on my shoulder and said: "Do you need a light?”

I turned around and saw a familiar face. It's Iris.

"What took you so long, Iris? I thought you're not coming to pick me up!”I chattered.

My fingers were numb and my whole body was trembling uncontrollably in the cold weather.

"Look at you! Your leather jacket is not warm enough for this kind of weather! Have I told you over the phone that Chongqing has been very cold during the last few days? You idiot!”she scolded.

She then took a big winter coat out from the plastic bag.

"Put it on!”she ordered.

"Hey, you still haven't told me why it took so long for you to come here,”I asked when putting that green colored overcoat on.

"When I was waiting for the bus to come here, I suddenly remembered that I should borrow the winter coat from my father just in case you haven't brought enough cloth to Chongqing,”Iris explained.

How thoughtful she was.

"Why didn't you take a taxi?”I asked.

"I better save some money for the business,”she answered.

"Let's go then,”I said.

When I was about to flag down a taxi, she dragged me to the airport-bus stand and said: “Why pay more than 50 bucks for a cab when the bus fare is only 5 bucks for each person? We are not in a hurry, are we? We could have a nice dinner from the money we save on the cab fare.”

"Since when you've become so good in cash management?”I was quite surprised to hear what she said. She used to be a mindless person when spending her hard-earned money in GD. She could easily lose several hundred dollars on the mahjong table or would buy some expensive clothing she didn't really like.

"I have been always like that when I was in Chongqing. You know, it's not that easy to make some money here, not like what it used to be when I was in GD…,”she sighed.

"Aren't you regret that you have missed the golden opportunities to make more fast-money when you're still young?”I asked.

"Not at all! It's not too bad being a business woman in Chongqing, hehehe…,” she chuckled.

"Really?”I was amazed.

"There will be a business meeting right after dinner and lots of works need to be done by tomorrow,”she suddenly sounded like my boss.

I never thought Iris would turn into a business-minded person since she left GD for less than a month ago.

"Yes, boss,”I replied.

"And what about Maggie? Has she gone home yet?”she did not forget my promise.

"Oh, yes. She's gone now,”I didn't lie. I just did not tell her that Maggie might be back soon.

"Well done,”she patted my head like a mother praising her good boy.

"The bus has arrived Guan Yin Qiao (Kun Yum Bridge). All passengers must get off here,”the bus driver announced loudly.

The rain still has not stopped yet.
