Let me be clear: Jackson did benefit from the incompetence of Union generals at Chancellorsville. However, his maneuver was brilliant because of the risk -- Hooker had put Lee in such a bad position that the risk had to be taken. That's not "luck" in the same sense as Fredericksburg, where Lee basically just sat still and let an incompetent make a frontal assault against an impregnable position.

And Jackson's campaign in the Valley was also brilliant, even though, again, he did benefit from facing inept opponents.
