True Blood, from Six Feet Under creator and American Beauty scribe Alan Ball, has not yet aired and probably won't until next year.

The shows you may be thinking of that bear too much similiarity to Angel (but I'm willing to bet none of the depth) are CBS's Moonlight and Fox's "New Amsterdam".

Don't be dissin' The Ball. SFU was one of the best tv shows of all time.
