What are you talking about? It was clear as day that Charles was one of the co-founders of the agency in Season 2. He and Cordelia had agreed to allow Wesley take the lead in the investigations of the cases. I don't recall Charles or Cordelia giving Wesley the right to FIRE them for any particular reason.

Why do you want to believe that Wesley was correct in treating Charles like an employee, when the latter was one of the agency's co-founders?
