Does the era of time create the superhero? The 90's were times when the internet boom went bust. Men had made a mess of trying to find a living to give, shelter, warmth, and food. Buffy was a hope that there was a future that was better, that if you paid attention, you, too, could make back to some kind of acceptable reality.
Of course, like all new endeavors that world had risks and dangers. Dangers that could and would devour you. So, out of history was the myth, that even the youngest could become the power. Taking names and making things right, no matter what the cost. She was a child of her times, a superhero, against our own eternal darkness and fears. And really good at banter.
