His words at the start of "Killer in Me" i.e his relunctance to leave and "First Date" and actions in "Lies My Parents Told Me" show his caught on some terrible dilemnas about how much to trust Buffy to make her own decisions.



If you think about it, Giles only had himself to blame. During the years he was Buffy's Watcher, he only taught her how to kill vampires and other demons. He never really bothered to teach her how to lead or think for herself . . . despite her attempts to do so, anyway.
