maybe there is another reason for the change in angel/angelus - he was cursed with a soul in order to suffer.
Whereas Spike (and darla) simply had a soul (in darla's case i'm refering to her being returned as a human, then later sharing connors soul). So although they did suffer guilt for what they had done, they basically dealt with it & moved on.
But we don't know the specifics of Angels curse. All we know is it was to return his soul in order to make him suffer. Perhaps the fear of perfect happiness & losing it again is what changed him so drasctically from angelus - however, when he gets really wound up his personality is simililar to that of his evil counterpart.
I've lost track of where I was going...
Wait - I think i have it...
All 3 soulded vamps have retained the same personality, but guilt has affected them differently.
I think the biggest difference is that Angelus has always been refered to as a seperate character.
I think thats enough rambling for now - hope this makes sense :)
