Tara believed that excessive use of magic was wrong under any circumstances, not that it was absolutely wrong as would be the case if there were a direct hacking parallel with the magic rather than it being part of Willow's attitude that invites the comparison

In general, I thought they were the same, and that Magic could easily have been a stand in for how one might use Computers or any other technology. The reason Willow abuses her power with magic, rather than computers, is that Magic is the more useful tool -- being that this is a supernatural show...
