I completely agree that the "You're the One" speech was the turning point. In fact, it is one of my favorite moments of the entire series. Buffy had lost sight of who she was, she was suffering from post and current tramatic stress syndrome and was more or less used up. Spike always seemed to understand the inner feelings of those around him (even if he sometimes failed to understand himself) and knew exactly what Buffy needed. To me, Buffy and Spikes belief in each other, divorced from boyfriend/girlfriend considerations, is why I believe that they loved each other in a more profound and important way than even the Buffy/Angel relationship.
