Author: CW
Subject: Bones: Graphic Novel Hero. (spoilers for the ep)

There were significant problems with the story last night, but it was nonetheless interesting.

Once the facts were beginning to fall into place, it's likely the FBI would have turned this case over to the city police. It's clear from the evidence the kid attacked with the knife first. So, most likely, the manager of the bowling alley has a good chance of getting off on self-defense, especially if his wife continues to give him support. It doesn't seem at all likely the bone fragment could stay on that kind of knife in a position long enough to get lodged among the 'victims' neck bones.

But otherwise it was an interesting character study. A bunch of seriously disturbed kids playing fantasy games with their lives beyond their game night. The sad girl hopelessly devoted to the kid who was (a) dying and (b) not much interested in her. The parents not understanding the son's attraction to the fantasy world. Both Booth and Bones comparing each other to the life style of the kid and not liking it much.

The group of role players was a very sad bunch. But episode was not an attack on people who play role games or enjoy reading and collecting comics and graphic novels. The writer did show respect for those who are interested in those things with Zack's sudden interest, and especially with the touching restoration of the kid's original comic with perhaps a new, but suitable ending.
