From "The Girl in Question" we know Dru and Spike were in Rome in the 50's. I believe Spike was in Spain when the Nazis grabbed him in the 40's. It seems that the Aurelius clan were kind of like your typical jet setters (but with courser table manners) and moved about quite freely. In fact, my vacation fantasy is a summer touring Europe with Darla, Drusilla, and Spike (waiter – one white wine and three Bloody Mary’s, AB negative if you have it). No Angel – frankly he is a bit of a buzz kill.
I did wonder what was the situation with Dru and Spike in 1979 when he killed Robin Wood’s mother but I always have assumed that she was in NY with him and perhaps out on her own hunt. I also assumed that Dru was hurt in Prague immediately preceding their journey to Sunnydale but I do not think it was ever made clear.
