I don't think it was a lack of reaction. I think it was made fairly clear that it affected her very strongly, but she didn't know how to deal with it. And since she was in the middle of crisis, she just pushed it aside and tried to get on with the mission. At least that's what I got from the scene in the hospital with Xander, Willow and Buffy.
