Very interesting. But I wonder if Season 7 affects the overall premise. True, Buffy rejects "The Law" and external authority again and again, but in the final episodes one of the main conflicts is between what she sees as her authority as the general who gets to decide what they're going to do and her friends' and the proto-Slayers' feelings that the decisionmaking should be more democratic.
