their pasts inform them

Yes, their pasts do inform them all. We can see every week just how much impact their past has on the decisions they make, good or bad. The point I'm making is that it may be the ones with the checkered pasts, Sawyer killing the man he was duped into thinking was the one who caused his parents death, he clearly made a mistake. Sayid forced to torture others to keep his family safe. Kate, well exactly what she did is up in the air. I think it's the ones who have made the biggest mistakes in judgement for whatever reasons may be the ones who may eventually be able to feel compassion for Ana.

I agree that Jack isn't worried so much about peoples pasts as much as what they do in the here and now...but is he right to worry about Locke?

The mixing of the sections will be bitter-sweet...my most anticipated reunion will be Bernard and Rose. OMG I've finally become a shipper!
