Subject: Campers from the 60's and 70's?

I was a Farwellite from about 1966 to 1974, or thereabouts. I thought it was in Wells River...? But this must be the place, how could there be two Camp Farwells? Mrs. Elliot was the camp director at that time. I'd love to hear from some fellow campers! Sarah Hutchison, Tibbie Uhl, Crandall Bailey, Debbie Sacken, Alison Thomas, Joy Wilcox, Nancy Greenwald, oh, gosh, I could go on and on. If any of you are out there, I'd love to hear from you!!

[> Hi Carolyn, you have the right Camp Farwell. Technically Wells River is in the Village of Newbury. It used to be that all mail for Camp Farwell had to be addressed using Wells River if the mail was to be delivered to Camp. I know it sounds strange but the physical location of the Camp has always been in Newbury. -- Charyl, 07:25:03 06/20/07 Wed

[> Fourty Years Ago?!? Still Farwell Born... -- Eliza Bilik, 21:11:19 06/21/07 Thu

Hi Carolyn:
Your name does not sound familiar, but many of the people that you mention certainly do! I was at Farwell from 1965-69...And my sister, Katie Bilik was there for a year. I miss the place...Those were some great summers.

[> [> Yes, definitely Farwell born! -- Carolyn Crimi, 13:20:20 08/03/07 Fri

Wow, is it possible you knew my sister, Pam Crimi? She was captain of the Whites for years and years. Big blue eyes, long, light brown hair? Your name actually is very familiar to me, but I think you might be my sister's age? We were both there when Mrs. Elliot was the Camp Director. Kathy Elliot was a year older than I am.

Sorry I'm responding to this so late, but I had almost forgotten I'd posted this! If you know anything about those people I mentioned, I'd love to hear about them! Greta Fells, Nancy Greenwald, Kitze McCormick-- I'd love to hear about any of them.

Carolyn

[> Campers from the 60's and 70's? -- Tibbie Uhl, 10:42:54 12/05/07 Wed

Crimi, I remember it all like it was yesterday...I just found this post and hope you check back at some point...I actually went back and visited Camp Farwell two summers ago when i was in the area. I thought it had gone under after 1976 (my last year there I think, yours too?). Spoke to the director and found the place is thriving...we searched around the cabins looking for familiar names written on the walls...I'm still in touch with Lisa Donahue and we both still talk about Farwell...and I wonder what's become of all the folks you listed and then some...Still think about camp and have dreams about it on a regular basis. That's what comes of spending so many summers in one place! Drop me a line if/when you see this. Would love to catch up!

[> 60's camper and counselor -- Susan Bagley Hettler, 16:42:20 09/12/08 Fri

I was just going through old pictures of me at camp in 1962. so I decided to see if the camp still existed. Wow, was I surprised! I was a camper for 5 years and then a counselor. The Elliott's owned the camp when I left. Can't remember the owners before. Any more 60's campers or counselors?
