Middle Half on Channel 3
By MICHELLE WILLARD, Post Staff Writer – Oct. 2, 2007 – 3:10 pm
Channel 3 gives participants and spectators a chance to relive the Middle Half Marathon with a segment on “In the City.”

“They did such a good job on the first (segment) they did,” said Melinda Tate, president of the board of directors for The Murfreesboro Half Marathon. “Every time I watched it I would get me reenergized.”

The segment, which will air Monday-Friday at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8-21, features spectators, runners and charities, said Miquelont Jolivette, video journalist with Cable Channel 3.

“It encompasses everything,” Jolivette said about the 7-minute segment, from Mayor Tommy Bragg to Special Kids, Inc., and wheelchair marathoner Mack Davis and the start and finish, of course.

“I’m sure they got a lot of local runners and walkers,” Tate said, noting the Channel 3 filmed the entire event.

1,000 runners, from 17 states, ran the inaugural Middle Half Marathon Sept. 22 around the MTSU campus and downtown Murfreesboro.

“I think the word is out that we have a half marathon and now more and more people are finding out about it. … We hope the residents of Murfreesboro will know about it and know to plan around it that day” Tate said, and Channel 3 is doing its best to let everyone know.
