*talks gently to the horse as she touches her leg gently* the most I can do is to put her leg in a cast. But I can tell you right now, she'll be out for at least 6 weeks, and competition is out of the question. Sometimes breaks like these ruin a horses gait. She might experience arthiritis ranging from mild to severe, depending on how the break heals. I can give her a bit of anesthetic to ease the pain, but she may panic at not being able to feel her leg, and do something to hurt it worse. I feel it is necessary to keep her off of her leg for awhile and to make sure she exerts as little pressure as possible on the healing leg for the entire healing process. But for now we have to get her leg X-Rayed to see how severe the damage is. Any Ideas?
