Subject: "EGOLI" True Professionalism

Most of you folks know I have had a somewhat difficult time acquiring a geneticly healthy Boerboel. The reason I bring this up is to stress the importance of researching the Breeder and their history in purchasing your own Boerboel pup. I believe I have said before that at the HBSA Orlando, Fl. clinic I was able to spend several hours with my friend Jan Ledoux discussing genetics, breeding strategies, and the results He himself had been able to achieve by selectively placing pups over time that allowed him a full health followup and even keeping whole litters to see for himself that He was reaching his goals. This was not an overnight halfass thing for Jan, and surprising Me, He was able to easily answer my most direct and involved questions technically and with examples of well thought out and creative ways He had put these ideas into actual pracical use. SO, A while back I took the plunge again and got 2 pups from Egoli, Bruno and Aisha. It was a very different experience for me this time around and I wanted to share what I feel is a way too uncommon thing in the Boerboel world. An Honest Boerboel breeder who loves his dogs. When I picked up the pups in Atlanta, they came from the oversized crate in great shape, happy and loving as to surprise even me. None the worse for the trip and full of playful energy. There was a large envelope with my name on it and inside was a stack of papers, mostly original documents which contained A full 4 generation pedigree and full appraisal for both parents. A full health certificate and current shot record for both parents. A full Hip report and certificate with all information, microchip numbers etc. for both parents. NOW, that was just the parents. Then with the Pups came full birth certificates and notifications, along with the permanent and easily readible tatoos numbers that each pup had in BOTH ears. Typed and clearly hand written notes on both pups from the vet. His description and opinion of each pup and their health. A FULLY filled out certificate and health record booklet on each pup with all shots and treatments easily readable even to my vet here. And there were a couple of more certificates for each pup to do with health, that my vet seem to understand and appreciate. My Vet's comment after my now 8 unhealthy Boerboels was Damn Ed, This is a more profesional job than people do here in the states, and He asked if I had shot anybody. I think I spend too much time with that man. Well, My Vet said the pups were perfect in everyway He knew to check and believe me He poked and prodded the poor things pretty good. Now at 4 months they are both pushing 60 lbs. and I am trying to slow them a little but their energy level and playful activity is constant. They will both go to whereever I may be working and sit or lay and look at me strait in the eyes with a level clear gaze I have never seen before in any other dogs. And the best thing about it all is that Jan has bred out ED, ectropion, entropion, etc. and has several proven 4 generation bloodlines of 0-0 HD. These dogs may show problems one day, You never know for sure, But I will never Blame Jan Ledoux. I know Better!! Ed Davis
