i'm sorry if it sounded like i didn't agree with you. nothing could be further from the truth.
i was just thinking of all the people out there who get a dog with little research into the breed (or who do research it but still get sucked into the hype).
i'm not a breeder and don't have any aspirations to be so maybe my opinion isn't worth a wit but....i'm not sure why someone WOULDN'T want to know what their dog can and can't do; what it will and won't. nor do i understand why someone who chooses to breed wouldn't want to know that they are breeding specimans of the breed whose litters would advance/better it. (i'm not talking about those in it for a quick profit; i'm speaking of those who say they are in it for the protection and betterment of the breed).
i know i've bitched at norman in the past but it wasn't because of the testing issue, it was because i didn't think he was being as polite as he might have been or was just beating a dead horse by arguing with a fool.
as i said, my opinion may not mean a lot on the subject because i don't breed but i think all the argueing about testing is a bunch of crap. yes, everyone has a right to their beliefs but...those who test their dogs know more about them then those that don't. that's simple logic. anyone who says differently may have the right but it doesn't mean they're the sharpest tool in the shed.
i'll even go so far as to say that those who insist the bb (or any breed for that matter) lives up to it's hype because of 'instincts' and testing isn't warranted or needed, is full of crap.
eventually, time will prove both of those statements true because the old saying about history repeating itself for those who don't remember it is just as true in the dog world as it is in the human.
every breed of dog ruined has been a direct result of people going for a look, a height, an angle to the hip.
or trying to change the temperment of a breed that shouldn't have been a pet or a guard dog to start with.
again...this is just my opinion and should be ignored if i have overstepped my place in the vast scheme of things. LOL.
