Try Beechler Bellite. It has quite a bit of high end and not difficult to control. If you are in HK, you can go to Tom Lee and try it out.

I could sell you my practically brand new Brillhart metal alto sax mouthpiece. It gave me a sort of Rock, fusion tone. I am selling this only because i switched to tenor. Please email me at rbthedragon@aol.com because i hardly check the forum very often.

I don't play alto, but I have tried quite a few Otto Links on my tenor. Links are renowned for their dark sound, and I guess their alto mouthpieces would tend to be dark too. So if you want to have a bright and powerful tone to play fusion and smooth jazz, Links may not be you best choice. But anyway, try one out and see if it suits you. Assuming that you would go for a brighter sound, also try some Dukoff's when going shopping.

I'm using Dukoff D8. Can be VERY edgy if you let it out. Suitable for rock or fusion. Not too easy to control, may squeek. I use it to play soft music like hymns as well as pop and it sounds good. it serve me well. Try b4 U buy is my advice.

I bought mine from Tomlee, price about HK$1100? Tomlee doesn't stock many Dukoffs. My choice is not your choice. I suggest you try different mpcs b4 buying. D8 is quite big an openning, U may want to try D7 if you are not used to large tip openning.
BTW, I tried putting a piece of blu-tac plasticine inside the chamber of the stock plastic classical mpc to make a baffle and it sounds edgy! That's the original method to get an edgy sound out of the mpc. The edgy sound does not come from the metal but the shape of the chamber.

I bought a LA Sax 6 Metal mouth piece from Tom Lee, it's bright but become squeeky. I am new to the forum, may I know how edgy sound is like (any sound file on web that I can refer to?)
