Wrote another true story today.....hope you like it.
Titled:
*****Mom there's a Fire in the basement*****
To make a bit of extra money, I started cleaning houses, and on occasion, would take the boys with me.
This worked out well, most times they would stay close as if they were home, playing with their toys.
By the time they were 3 & 4 the quiet play, was out of the question. So they went to a sitter for the few hours I worked.
One particular day I couldn't line up the sitter, and since it was just one house, I took them with me.
What was I thinking.
Every wall was painted white. And quiet play was no longer an option, so I kept them busy running errands for me while I cleaned.
All those nice errands resulted in little handprints all the way up and down the hallway.
So I sent them & their toys down into the basement.
Now, our own home didn't have a basement, so this was unexplored wide open space to play without anymore handprints.
Yes!! I was Just finishing up the last bit of cleaning fingerprints when.....
"MOM!!!" The tone was NOT the tone any Mom wants to hear. Something was terribly wrong!!
They made it up the stairs, before I could get down them. Both terrified, both out of breath.
"There's a fire in the basement!!"
They are pulling me downstairs, both seem unharmed. No scratches, bruises, and no burns. I'm very worried.
I get down to the basement, don't smell smoke, don't see any fire. "Where is this fire?"
They are both pulling me now, terribly afraid the house will burn down.
"it's on the other side of that!" Says my oldest.
As I walk around the furnace, I say "Where?"
He is pulling toward, while my youngest has an iron grip that won't let go & holds me back.
Just then, the furnace kicks on.
"There!! There it is!!!"
