Both companies are looking at the machines to have a comparable performance to small (50cc) engines. Yamaha targets 2010 as the launch date. In the meantime, Honda has announced 2011 as the launch of lithium-ion battery electric motorcycles – with a target audience of customers like the Japanese Postal Service, who have a fleet of 90,000 bikes.
