Date Posted: 06:17:01 10/29/07 Mon Virgin Media are to run a pilot scheme, where specially trained service technicians will reach their clients by motorcycle. The scheme will initially be rolled out in London – where Virgin already runs a successful motorcycle taxi service – in an attempt to reduce customer waiting times caused by city congestion. Virgin has estimated that that a bike would spend a third of the time travelling from job to job than a van. A technician on a bike will also use less than a third of the fuel that a van consumes. Another advantage is that motorcycles are exempt from the London Congestion Charge. If the scheme is successful, then it may be rolled out to other key cities around the country.
