Firstly, they have said they will increase their stake in KTM to “over 25%” The two companies have spoken further of their intentions to jointly develop in new areas. A spokesman for KTM said "Until now, we were in the off-the-road bikes segment. But with Bajaj, we are looking to develop a high performance, water-cooled engine platform for 125 cc and 250 cc bikes." Bajaj are due to will roll-out KTM bikes by mid-2008, with the jointly developed entry-level bikes primarily produced at Bajaj's existing facilities. Bajaj has also entered into an agreement with Kawasaki – a long-term technical partner - to distribute the latter's bikes in India and again are talking about possibilities of developing joint products. The initial distruibution plan will look to launch four models; Ninja 250, ER-6n, ZX6R and Z1000 with the 250 being the first into the market.
