Date Posted: 05:53:07 01/22/08 Tue Two Merseyside hospitals are to get a free out of hours delivery service for emergency medical supplies. Royal Liverpool Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital have signed up with Serviced by Emergency Rider Volunteers (Serv), to provide a round the clock service. Two dedicated riders will be based on Merseyside to deal with the two to three calls expected each night. Co-ordinator Dave Sammons said "All of our guys give up their time, use of their personal vehicles and pay for their fuel to provide the NHS with an out of hours delivery courier service." Mr Sammons added it would save the local NHS £75,000 a year. The service, set up 27 years ago, already operates in the South Midlands and East Anglia aims to "give something back" to the public health service.
