Subject: Workington police raise £3,000 for mini-moto club

Allerdale council has agreed to designate land to be used for the club and Impact Housing and the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership have agreed to fund the project. PC Richard Smillie of Cumbria police, said “This is about educating people, not punishing them. I believe this is a more sustainable way to prevent problems in our community, rather than arresting people or seizing their bikes.” The funding will pay for the ACU to train 10 people to run the club.
