Former World Superbike and MotoGP star Anthony Gobert has been banned from Surfers Paradise in Australia, following a “crime rampage” which included the robbery of a 70 year old man.

‘Wild Child’ Gobert - who has fallen from being a world class bike racer to applying to sandwich maker Subway for a job – has been charged with two counts of stealing; one of snatching two A$ 20 notes from a 70 year old man and the other of snatching a womans’ purse.

Gobert had to repeatedly be told by the judge to stop interrupting from the dock while cross-examination of witnesses was being held. Gobert told Judge Michael Hogan `I'm a professional motorcycle rider mate' but then said he was unemployed and had applied for a job at Subway.

Gobert was bailed on condition he surrender his passport, report five days a week to police and not enter central Surfers Paradise.
