[ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 05:22:15 07/15/08 Tue Scotts Leathers is back in business after owner Jimmy Aird formed another company to take over the assets and allow the 20 staff to keep their jobs. Scotts – started by Mr Aird 25 years ago – went into administration as the credit crunch began to bite. Joint administrator Andy Haslam of Begbies Traynor, said “The company was taken into administration and we have sold the business to an associated company who are now moving forward. The staff will be retained and customer deposits will be honoured.” Haslam added “He (Aird) knows what happened before so he can try to avoid that (administration). He is a well-known individual and he is good at what he does. He has good contracts and good people here”, adding that Scotts has a number of ongoing contracts with police forces around the country and Mr Aird’s position in the biking community would stand the resurrected firm in good stead.
