DISASTER!!!

The chain on my 1994 Fireblade snapped on Friday evening, while I was testing my headphones on one of our local bypasses. I was trying to find a way of getting headphone that worked well at naughty speeds!

The chain used its momentum to crash into the gearbox casing and water pump and did some serious damage. The engine stalled, but without a chain on the back wheel, I was able to free wheel a good half mile!

Anyway, the bike is in the garage awaiting the run down of all the damage. It looks like a new engine might be needed, or at least a bottom end because we don't know if by breaking the casing, some mini bits of metal got into the engine and gearbox while it was still running.

So, 12 days to go, and only short of one bike!!!

The good news is here - Last night, I wandering around eBay I bought a 1996 Cagiva Elephant 900. Paid for it and took it home, by 10pm.

The 40 mile trip on it last night is making me think that I will be cheating. 1000 miles on this - as long as it doesn't break down - is going to be easier than a Fireblade!

Reports will be posted in due course!!
