If you can't read chinese character at all, you miss a lot of information.
His father died when he was four and he didn't get along with his stepfather. Raised from a family of poverty, this kid with a tremendous sense of responsibilities has a lot of questions in mind. Under adult supervison, he played small roles in movies and receive broken education. At the age of 20, his family moved to Taiwan, all flown in airplane except this young man, who set sail all by himself. It's an experience he would like to forget. Ten months later, he return to Hong Kong, alone, in a plane, ticket borrowed.
One day, this street-wandering young man got picked up by one of the leading stunt master (��) at the time. He was offered a stunt job at Shaw Studio and since then, made his living by playing the beaten up roles and the dead. Until the famous stunt, a raw fell from the top to the ground caught the attention of an astonished Director Chang Cheh, who asked, who is this young man?
The following years mark the beginning of a father-son relationship, most significant among all others descriptions, in my opinion.
