After the Merger between Cunard & White Star due to the depression, the Olympic had collided with a Nantucket Lightship, off the coast of New York, on September 15, 1934,
cutting it in half, & killing several crew members, Cunard-White Star was sued, and the line had decided that she was no longer needed, she was sold for scrap the next year, and the work wasn't completed until 1937. Most of the furnishings now reside at the White Swan Hotel, in the UK,
suprisingly, most of them didn't sail because people didn't want furnishings that looked like their Grandmother's house.
This was the same deal with the Cunard liner Mauretania,
which served from 1907-1935.........

Best Regards,
Stevo
