Schooling action has started on Lake Fork. Numbers of largemouth bass can be caught on main lake points and flats. These fish range from 8 – 16 inches in size. LOCKHART "Chuck and Spin baits in chrome or Tennessee shad colors work best. You can cast this bait twice as far as a rattle trap. In the dark before the sunlight hits the water my clients are still throwing black buzz baits. Use buss baits with a black blade and a trailer hook attached along shoreline grass and weeds in 3 foot of water. Other top water action has is still a little slow. The mid day heat can make the bite real slow. The heat also slows down the angler when sweat is dripping in his/her eyes. Larger fish can be caught fishing grass near 5 – 10 foot drop offs and in creeks. Use 10" power worms and fish them slow. Using Carolina rigs on main lake points working your way down from 10 – 30 foot of water have been producing fish on those days where everything else seems to fail. Use small 4 inch plastic worms or lizards. Also using small crank bits like MANN'S 15+ has picked up a few casting a little ways out from the bank. White or chartreuse Spinner baits are recommended on windy days in water 5' – 15' around tree lines. Lake water is down approximately 8 Inches and it is clear to lightly stained. Be careful of stumps when you leave the boat lanes. Also quick thunder storms with high winds have been common on the lake the last couple of weeks. Surface Temperature is between 82 – 87 degrees.
