It's really more of a recycled message board and website. It's a lot of work to put everything back together again. I have web files on CD's, floppy disks, and who knows where. I haven't put the word out that the message board and website are back on the air, but I'd be thankful if you passed it on to anyone who might want to take a look. I'm trying to get the front page (page 1) in order, especially the archives section.The sound files are finally working, so the public can hear the Campanelli/Moriarity "Tradeshow Today" radio interview. Hopefully we can get some Decorators to post some decent dialog on this message board and snap some of us out of our apathetic attitude. The message board and website is pretty much viewed as a non serious, light hearted, cheap form of entertainment, but I believe the message board could be a lot more than that.(Excuse me while I get up on my soapbox. OK, now I'm ready) Decorators should be able to post their gripes or concerns about work policies or union practices that are suspect or in need of being defined or addressed. If a Decorator feels he or her is getting f*cked around or sees a company starting a new trend in the way they hire or fill their labor call, which could adversly affect a lot of us non related Decorators, then let them post their bitch here and let's try to follow it up with some relevent feedback. If the elected officals of Local 831 are doing something that's pissing someone off, or if they're not doing something and it's pissing someone off, well let's hear about it. Let the truth be told. A good working union isn't about a select few at the top getting fat while the rest of us foot the bill. Do you think our Business Agents would take a stand for you if it was just you against the company. How sure are you that if you filed a grievence they would not only fight for you, but would take nothing less than a total victory for your side without any compromises or back room side deals. If those are the kind of men we have as Business Agents, we're in good shape. If you truly believe you can count on Bob and Grant along with the other agents to unconditionally back up and fight for any member who has had an injustice dealt to him or her, by the show or shop Foreman, company management, or anyone who controls and influences the hiring of Decorators, then I'd say we're as solid as a rock. Let other Decorators know we've elected the right men. Now if perhaps you don't see it exactly this way, well tell us how you do see it and give us a little proof to back your smack.
I hope that we can post some good bitch and moans that will get responses both pro and con.
