Previously on Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Shoot to Maggie Walsh in Lab. A skewer shoots through her stomach.

MAGGIE:
Adam....

ADAM:
Mommy....

Shoot to New Moon Rising.

The Initiative is holding Oz in their cells.

Oz Turns into the wolf at the sight of Willow.

*Camera shoot to Oz is in his van talking to Willow*

OZ
Willow I know you like her

WILLOW
I do

OZ
Im leaving

Willow is beginning to cry

WILLOW
Why

OZ
It�s for the best

OZ
You bring out the wolf in me

WILLOW
Sorry

OZ
It�s not your fault but until I can control it, I have
to go

WILLOW
Oh Oz

WILLOW
Will I see you again

OZ
I don�t know maybe

**Fade to black**

Fade up on dorm hallway. Buffy and Xander are walking down the hall
and
talking to each other. They are walking noticeably slow.

BUFFY
Its funny ya know? These things happen for a reason I guess, but Oz
was her
everything. I mean, they were so...they were my model couple I guess.

XANDER
Yeah, I know what you mean. How has she been?

BUFFY
As good as can be expected, I mean she has been a little down since he
left,
but I�m thinking its going to get better.

XANDER
How is Riley?

BUFFY
I guess he is about as good as Willow. It took a lot for him to do
this...I
wish I only knew what the government was planning.

**Camera shoot to Interior Initiative, Colonel McNamara is sitting at a
conference table with men in suits**

MCNAMARA
We will not fail, I have never lost a hostile during my years of
experience
and I will not loose one now. We will deal with Finn later when I have
a
proper report ready. As for now we go after the hostile we lost, he
has
been gone for approximately two weeks. This is sufficient enough time
for
him to make a clean getaway, however he was spotted near a sight of one
of
our global locations.

A man at the table looks to McNamara

MAN
What do you suppose we do when we find the wolf?

MCNAMARA
Terminate him. We cannot be allowed to let this hostile go free. He
will
be found and terminated.

MAN
Very well McNamara, we will be meeting next Tuesday in regards to agent
Finns recent actions. I advise you that once you have settled this
personal
goal of yours, you tend to agent Finns whereabouts, or termination is
how
you will describe your career.

MCNAMARA
Yes sir.

Colonel McNamara�s cell phone rings.

MCNAMARA
Yes? You�ve what? Speak up, I cannot get good reception...

**Camera shoot to quiet wooded area, it is peaceful and serene. A man
standing in the woods in full camouflage gear on a phone.**

CAMOUFLAGE MAN
Sir, I have located the hostile, do you wish me to pursue?

**Zoom in on wooded area. We see a small hut set up and a man walking
out
of it. He is carrying some fire wood.**

CAMOUFLAGE MAN
Sir I do have confirmation, it is the wolf.

**Camera reveal the man walking is Oz. He stops dead in his tracks as
he
senses someone around him. He turns and faces the man looking at
him.**

CAMOUFLAGE MAN
I have been identified, repeat, identified.

**Oz realizes who the man is and drops the firewood running off. The
camouflaged man takes out a gun and chases after him. Oz runs through
a
clearing and into some bushes. The man walks around a tree to the
bushes
when Oz�s van flies out of them fleeing where he was. The man shoots
after
the van, and misses**

CAMOUFLAGE MAN
(back on phone) Sir, we have lost him, the hostile is on the move.

**Shoot to Xander�s basement. He is about to walk out the door as the
phone
rings. He walks over and picks it up**

XANDER
Hello? Oz? What�s wrong? Ok, calm down. I�ll come get you...wait
where
are you? Airport...good....two hours? Ok, I�ll be there.

Xander hangs the phone up and immediately picks it up and dials

**Shoot to Buffys house, she walks by the phone as it rings. She picks
it
up.**

BUFFY
Hello? Xander is that you? Oh hey, listen I need you to- what? He
what?
Where is he? Ok, go get him. Should we tell her? You know what, lets
just
get him first.

Buffy hangs up and begins to walk for the door.

She walks by Joyce

JOYCE
Where you are going

BUFFY
Back to school.

JOYCE
Come here...

Buffy walks over to Joyce who plants a huge hug on Buffy.

JOYCE
Ooo, my little girl is all grown up. I love you sweetie.

BUFFY
I love you too mom.

JOYCE
Be safe, and have a good time.

BUFFY
I will. Bye mom.

Buffy exits the house.

*Camera shoot to Interior Dorm room, Willow is sitting on the bed. She
is
looking at a picture of Oz. She places is under her mattress*

A knock is heard at the door. Willow gets up and walks over to the
door.
Upon opening it the camera reveals Tara standing at the door.

Willow smiles.

WILLOW
Hey you.

TARA
Hey you.

WILLOW
Come in.

TARA
I-i-is it...alright i m-m-ean are your friends here?

WILLOW
Its fine Tara, come in sweetie. Actually later I want you to go with
me to
the Bronze, I am gonna surprise Xander at his house and we�re gonna go
out,
I want you to go too!

The two enter and sit on Willows bed.

TARA
M-m-maybe...How are you?

WILLOW
I�m doing good! Really I am. I just. I know my life isn�t with Oz
anymore, but is it wrong of me to miss him?

TARA
No, its not. Its not wrong at all...th-the thing you have to
-reme-reme-remember is that you were in love, and now its over. Its
going
to be hard, but you�ll find love again.

WILLOW (smiles)
What if I already have?

Willow continues to smile as she walks to the door and closes it.

*Camera flash to interior old Sunnydale high, Riley and Buffy are
inside*

BUFFY
How is the hiding out going for you?

RILEY(grumpy)
Don�t make jokes.

BUFFY
Don�t get all grumpy acting with me buddy.

RILEY
I�m sorry, its just, I feel so useless here.

BUFFY
You are going to be needed when I find Adam

RILEY
by standing in a school?

BUFFY
No by being the fight, but you can�t fight if they don�t allow you to
make
it.

RILEY
When do we fight?

BUFFY
I honestly don�t know. Listen there is something I have to tell you...

RILEY
What?

BUFFY
Oz is coming home.

RILEY
They�ll kill him.

BUFFY
That�s the problem. They found him, Colonel McNamara has a personal
vengeance against Oz. He�s coming here for some shelter until we can
get
the Initiative off his back.

RILEY
How do we do that?

BUFFY
A spell. We need Willow to do a spell...but...I don�t know if I want
her
seeing him. So I can�t stay with you tonight, I�ll be back in the
morning,
but the gang needs me.

RILEY
Duty calls, I understand.

BUFFY
I knew you would. I love you.

RILEY
I love you too.

Buffy kisses Riley, stands and turns to walk away. Before she reaches
the
opening she turns.

BUFFY
I really do.

RILEY
I know you do. Now go help your friends.

Buffy exits as Riley watches her leave.

RILEY (to himself)
I wish I believed you...

Camera cut to car pulling up outside Xander�s house. We see two darkly
dressed figures walking through the shadows of the night. A third
figure
joins them from the car. They walk around and down to the basement
door.

Camera shoot to door opening.

The figures reveal to be Buffy, Xander, and Oz. The door opens to
Willow
and Tara sitting in the basement.

WILLOW
Surpri....

OZ
Surprise

WILLOW
Oz? What are you doing here? You were uh...gone! What are you doing
back?

TARA
I have um...I g-g-got to uh go.

OZ
No..Tara stay, I�ll go.

BUFFY
No, no one can go. We all have to stay together.

WILLOW
Why? Buffy what�s going on?

OZ
Those guys, they�re after me. They want me dead.

WILLOW
The Initiative?

BUFFY
Bingo. We need you to work up a little confusion spell to send the
Initiative away

TARA
Wh-why can�t I go?

XANDER
Its not safe, if those guys find out that OZ is back and we�re
involved, we
are in huge amounts of trouble.

BUFFY
Until we can work the spell, being alone is not good for any of us.
Xander,
are your parents home?

XANDER
No, they went out of town, something about a cheese and wine tasting
thing.
They aren�t so much into the cheese...if you know what I mean.

BUFFY
Good, we just need to stay together and...

::A loud bang is heard from upstairs, a voice rings out::

VOICE
Freeze! Do not leave the house until you are located!

BUFFY
Split up! Everyone, just run!

The gang all belts for outside As they swing open the door, Spike is
standing at it.

SPIKE
What�s with all the bleeding shoving?!

XANDER
Out of the way Spike....no....hey! Actually there is a bunch of vamps
trying
to eat us in there!

SPIKE
Alright, finally, some action...

As the gang flees, Spike walks into the basement.

He walks down the stairs to see a commando guys at the top of the
stairs
from the main house.

SPIKE: Oh....shhhhh Xander!

Spike runs with the gang.

Finally we see the gang running away. Tara, Oz and Willow run in one
direction, Spike Buffy and Xander run in the other.

Camera shoot to interior Giles apartment. He is walking towards his
couch,
the room is very silent. He opens a book with one hand and holds a cup
of
tea in the other. He sits in his chair.

GILES (laughingly to himself)
Spike? You here....he he he.....Buffy? Problems? Huh? Cant hear
you?!
Ha ha ha...ah...finally peace a quiet...

The door slams open loud, Buffy, Xander and Spike run in.

GILES
Gooooooood Lord!

BUFFY
Giles, prob...

GILES
Problems, I know.

BUFFY
Huh?

GILES
Nevermind.

Camera cut to exterior cemetery. Oz, Willow and Tara are running in
it.

OZ(out of breath)
Still want to talk!?

WILLOW(out of breath)
I told you, when we�re done running?

TARA(really out of breath)
Okay....can....we....stop?

The three slow down. Willow and gang sit on the ground for a second.

WILLOW
Tara, can you..

TARA
I�m uh..gonna, go ke-k-keep watch out...I�ll yell if anything.

WILLOW
So...why are you back? Right..stupid me...Stupid Willow, you�re here
because you want something..

OZ
No, I need you guys to help me...I guess it is because I want
something.

WILLOW
Oz, when you left, I told you that I loved you...and I do. But, I�m in
love
with Tara now, more than I think everyone knows...

OZ
I know, I didn�t come here to get you back, or to woo you, I swear. I
came
to get those guys away from me, and then I�ll be gone.

WILLOW
That easy huh?

OZ
what?

WILLOW(teary)
God Oz, can�t you just, for one second like...care?

OZ (teary)
I do care, everyday. I would give my life for you.

A voice rings out behind them

VOICE
Interesting...

Willow and Oz turn to reveal Adam standing behind them holding Tara by
the
throat, she is gasping for air. He drops her and turns his head to
Willow.

Camera shoot to interior Giles apartment.

GILES
So Colonel McNamera has this personal vendetta against Oz, its only a
matter
of time...where would they go?

XANDER
I don�t...

BUFFY
Cemetery...we promised each other if we got separated in a fight, we
would
meet at the cemetery.

SPIKE
Lets go!

The three look at Spike

SPIKE
You promised me action, I�m gonna get it.

BUFFY
Who did what?

XANDER
I sorta...did...we gotta go!

BUFFY
Fine...but stay out of my way

The four take off out of the house.

Camera shoot back to cemetery. Tara falls to the ground gasping for
air as
Willow and Oz run to her.

OZ
Is she ok?

WILLOW
yeah, I think so...

ADAM
Interesting isn�t it? That you would give your life if I hurt this
girl. I
think I will, I want to learn, to see....

OZ
I wont let you hurt her.

ADAM
I don�t think you have a choice.

OZ
What do you mean?

Adam backhands Willow sending her into a headstone.

WILLOW
Ow.....it hurts.....ow.....

OZ
No...not now...

Oz looks down as his hands begin to grow hair. He is turning into the
wolf.

OZ
I can control it....no evil...only good.....

Oz finally wolfs out.

ADAM
Interesting....very....enlightening as well.

Wolf Oz jumps on Adam as he falls to the ground.

Adam punches wolf Oz sending flying off of him. Oz hits the ground
turning
back into human.

A long jacket is placed in Oz, Tara lays it down.

TARA
are...you...ok?

OZ
I don�t know...it hurts to move....

Adam begins walking towards Willow. A foot slams into Adam. Its Buffy
and
gang.

BUFFY
Don�t think so...

Adam and Buffy begin to fight. The knock each other around for a
while.
Xander and Giles walk over to Oz and Tara and Willow and check on them
while
Buffy fights Adam.

SPIKE
Alright! Action! You know...I think I�ll sit this one out and see how
the
slayer deals.

XANDER
Guys...bigger problems...

The gang looks to reveal Colonel McNamera and the Initiative
surrounding
them. Buffy and Adam keep fighting. Adam Grabs Buffy and slams her
into a
tree knocking her down. Adam walks to Willow and looks at Oz.

ADAM
Time to keep your promises....

OZ
NO!!!!!!!!!

Oz runs toward Adam and Willow, Adam has projected his skewer and is
about
to sink it into Willow when Oz steps in front of him. The skewer goes
into
Oz�s side.

OZ
Ahhhhhhhhh!

WILLOW
Oz!

The Initiative jumps into Battle with Adam, he keeps them busy.

Buffy staggers to her feet and the group walks over to Oz.

OZ (quietly)
guys....its not that bad....I don�t think....But....I have...and
idea...

The camera pans away from Oz as we cant hear what he is saying. The
camera
focuses on the fight. Adam quickly kills some soldiers before he makes
his
way out of their control and away from the cemetery. Colonel McNamera
catches sight of the group gathered around Oz.

COLONEL MCNAMERA
Retreat! We will find him later.

BUFFY
This man is dead.

WILLOW
You killed our friend.

GILES
Are you happy?! Is that what you wanted for you stupid petty games?

COLONEL
It had to be done. We can dispose of the bod

XANDER
To each his own Colonel, let us bury our own soldier.

The colonel looks at the death of his men about on the ground.

COLONEL
very well.

The gang grabs Oz and makes their way out of the cemetery. The get
into
Xanders car and leave.

The Colonel looks at Spike.

COLONEL
Do I know you?

SPIKE (heavy American accent again.)
No sir...uh...ask your friends there, I�m a friend of Xanderrrrrs

Camera shoot to cemetery. It is day. Willow and Buffy are walking
through
it.

BUFFY
Arizona? Why was he going there?

WILLOW
More help, or people who live like him, or something...I didn�t really
ask.
I just wanted to move on...

BUFFY
I�m glad, I just hope the fact that he�s not really dead wont cause
problems
later...

WILLOW
I think we did a good job of making people think he�s really dead...

BUFFY
Really?

WILLOW
Oh yeah....

The two pass by a headstone on which the camera focus� in on....

�Here lies Daniel Osbourne, he who died for the one he loves�

The screen goes to black

Grrrrr Arrrwoooooooo!

a good read and a great stand alone fic but it doesn't fit with the cannon of the buffyverse because there's no way they'd not mention Oz dying!

I don't get to read fanfic often (this is like the 3rd or 4th ever), so I don't know if my opinion is worth anything, but this was great-- *just* what I needed but which we didn't see on screen.

I loved the bittersweet Ruffy moment (yes, I ship them! *ducks*). The beginning of the end... :'(

Great Scooby interaction!

Wonderful Woz stuff-- I love both Woz and Wara and this ep made peace with both. The fake headstone was perfect-- Willow and Oz will always love each other and Oz *would* die for her. *heaves sigh, goes to look for kleenex*
