Well, I don't know what the ---- you're talking about. Jk. Actually it makes a lot of sense, which is one of the points that I would like all of us to think about.
I think in the community that we are living in today, there are not that many people who are firmly committed to an idealism about faith. Like both of you have pointed out, there are not even that many people who are dead serious atheists any more. And the pantheists are kind of "whatever" at best.
Perhaps people are mostly "casual agnostics" nowadays. The word agnostic comes from the Greek word "a" which means "without" and "gnosis" which means "knowledge". Casual agnostics sort of shrug their shoulders and say, "There may be superior beings in the world; there may not be superior beings at all. Don't know and don't care." Now, not too many people would come out and say that "Hey! I am an agnostic!" But I think people sure live like they are agnostics.
The world if filled with people who live their lives as if whether there is a God (or there are many gods) doesn't really matter. The knowledge about God (or the lack of it) really has nothing to do with how one live and make life choices in life.
Scarily, casual agnostics do not only exist outside of the church. The speaker at our church last week talked about Christians putting on masks when they come to service on Sunday, only to live the rest of the time as if their professed faith in Christ has no impact what-so-ever to their "real life." That's sad.
