I wrote DW a a very gushing birthday card in July c/o the Roundabout Theatre. Basically telling him that I am a professional actress and that it was partly due to his work that I chose this career. And yesterday I received a card from him!It says:

"Dear Rachel,
A belated 'Thank you for and card and letter. I am indeed lucky to get a letter as that from you; as you know, this business is not easy and (??) such as yours keeps me going. All success to you in your future endenvors. And when things get difficult 'Always look on the Bright Side of Life' Much Love, David Warner

While I'm not as lucky as many of you to actually MEET him, this has made me so happy that he took the time to reply. I just had to write to people who understand my joy!

Thanks for listening,
Rachel

Hi, Rachel,

Nice to meet you. What a nice note he sent you! Thanks for sharing it.

I guess he's getting caught up on his fan mail now that the play is over! (It's a relief to know for sure that he's all right.) After seeing the play, I too had written him a gushy letter (hope it wasn't *too* gushy), and sent him a photo to autograph. I just received it in the mail the other day too.

I do feel very lucky not only to have seen him on the stage, but to have met him in person. It was like a dream come true. He's even more gracious and charming than I had imagined. But, as a professional actress, maybe you'll do even better than that someday and actually get to work with him! I sure hope you do! Best of luck to you. (I wanted to be an actress too when I was a kid but couldn't get past the stage fright.)

Keep in touch!

>Hi, Rachel, and welcome!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful note from DW with us and, as Susan says, it's such a relief to know that he's all right. I was lucky enough to see him in 'Major Barbara' and meet him twice. He's such a nice person and a true gentleman.

Dear Rachel,

If you're familiar with Monty Python, and how much Mr. Warner appreciates them, you'll know why I laughed so hard when I read that line. Considering recent events, he probably went home, got out every movie of theirs he could find and watched them on end just to get some relief.

Thanks for sharing the note. It was cute. Nice to meet you, too. Stop by often :)
