First of all, I don't idolize or canonize David Warner. And if I were some kind of "star collector" who just chases anyone famous, there are much more famous people I would be chasing than David Warner, who, by his own admission, is constantly being mistaken for other people. I mean, you can tell something about his "fame" by the level of activity on this board! (And most of us upon first discovering this board usually say something along the lines of "I thought I was the only David Warner fan in the world.")
I would probably not know of his existence if he were not in the entertainment business or a public figure, but if he weren't and perchance I got to know his work as an actor, say, on a local stage, I would certainly admire him, and probably come back to see any other play he was in. And if he walked up to me in a bar as a miner or a barman, I'd most certainly regard him. Why wouldn't I? He's a nice guy, very intelligent, witty, and interesting to talk to, and nice looking too.
I admire David Warner because of the unique enjoyment he gives me from watching his films. Many other actors give me similar enjoyment and I follow their careers accordingly, but I have to admit, Mr. Warner is one of my favorites. What's wrong with that? And what's wrong with sharing my interest with other people who feel the same way? (Any more than it would be wrong to get together with people who share any other interest? We just happen to be scattered all over the world; without the Internet, we'd never have met.)
I'm just wondering what prompted you to make such sweeping generalizations about us all? If you're not a fan of David Warner, why post here at all?
