Subject: Two questions ! Variegated Sweet William and Steve!

Hi, Randy and all. I found a beautiful variegated Sweet William among some seedlings last year - it hasn't flowered yet, although all its green siblings have! I have a feeling that because of its beautiful foliage, it may be shy to flower - what do you all think?
I've just taken 8 cuttings off it now, leaving a few on the parent plant; it's doing fine outside, although certainly we've had no frost.
Secondly, I've been trying to contact Steve Hinkson - I wrote to him on his old website but have a feeling its not been updated - if you have a new address for him, please write and let me know!

Hi Maggie,
We have a patch of variegated Dianthus that's in bloom as we speak so there's still hope for yours (is Sweet William a Dianthus?). A link to a photo is below.

As far as Steve goes, I believe his e-mail address is the same. I sent out a mass Holiday e-mail and he responded.
Take care.
Randy

Thanks, Randy. I expect he will reply sooner or later, then.
Sweet William is a dianthus, though the leaves are wider than say, those of pinks or carnations. I had seen yours already, very nice.
I have found a Bay tree also with white variegation (Laurus nobilis) and it's very pretty, but they are slow growers so patience is required.
