Well bravo to that: the Gewandhaus orchestra are one of my favourite bands. I was fortunate to visit Leipzig recently to attend one of their concerts, Symanowski's First fiddle concerto and Tchaikovsky's 'Manfred' Symphony, also taking in a Bach cantata in the Thomaskirche, and rounding everything off by moving on to Berlin for a concert at the Philharmonie (not Rattle but Markus Stenz in Schrecker, Zimmermann, Prokofiev PC2 etc). What does one do outside the Proms season? One goes on holiday...
