Having actually visited the place during its incarnation as the home of the New Millennium Experience, I can confirm that the acoustic is abominable. They had some sort of show on twice a day, using very amplified music by (I am led to believe) Peter Gabriel. The sound quality was dreadful. The place isn't just a barn, it's an airship hangar. Can one truly imaging the Vengerov recital Prom, or that of Kissin, taking part in the Dome? One may be able to get tickets, but without significant amplification one wouldn't be able to hear a damned thing. Unless of course one had nothing but the German Romantics and their heirs played by the NYO...

On another note, I seem to remember that the plastic sheeting which forms the skin of the Dome has a design life of approximately 25 years. Not exactly a long-term plan, then?

I can only join in Simon's passionately held belief that this is some kind of joke or nascent urban myth.
